Dubbed “the most anticipated scooter” of 2021, the Apollo Phantom has finally officially been launched, and it seems like the e-scooter community just can’t stop talking about it. Being the first electric scooter fully designed by Apollo, based on requests of thousands of riders, we were hyped to see whether the Phantom would live up to expectations and become the ultimate all-rounder. So far, the future looks bright for Phantom.
Apollo Phantom Scooter – A Complete Package
On the electric scooter market rebranded, redesigned and supposedly improved Chinese scooters have become a norm. However guys from Apollo have decided that enough is enough. Instead of redesigning finished products and trying to adapt it to the demand, they wanted to design and build a scooter from the ground up, looking at it from the perspective of real riders and incorporating all the features that are actually needed. Thanks to the feedback of over 20,000 riders, they have managed to get a pretty good grasp on what is really important, and what is just a distraction.
So, the Phantom was born. Designed by a Canadian company, this scooter is a carefully-crafted vehicle, a concept proving that electric scooters do not need to be about compromises, but about getting the best all-around riding experience.

Is this scooter really unique enough to be declared a new concept? Let’s take a deeper look and talk about details.
Speed and Power
Phantom has two motors with nominal power output of 1200W each, which places it in the high-performance dual motor scooter category. These two motor provide 3.2 kW of peak power combined and the top speed of up to 38 mph. Powered by two 25 amp controllers, this scooter boasts instant acceleration to keep up with city traffic speeds.
Design and Build
This Apollo scooter features a completely proprietary build, featuring sturdy and durable, yet lightweight multi-layered aluminum frame. The handlebar is casted of a single piece of metal, and the steam has double reinforcements for improved stability. The sizeable deck with precisely-angled foot rest allow you to comfortably place your feet in a way that will keep you comfortable even at longer rides.
Multi layered aluminum reinforces the structure of the stem and an all-new folding mechanism design ensures long time durability and absolutely no wobble in the stem. They also ensured the kickstand is attached via a bracket, rather than screwed directly into the scooter deck, so if it gets sheared off it can easily be replaced. The placement of the kickstand bracket also protects against the charging ports getting damaged, should the scooter fall.
Suspension plays an important role in creating the best riding experience, not just for its dampening capabilities, but also for the ease of adjusting it to your preference and road conditions. Apollo has introduced their proprietary Quadruple Suspension System, which features four springs for better shock absorption and more dynamic travel. The suspension is adjustable with a spanner wrench.
Beefy 10″ pneumatic tires that are 3.25″ wide, combined with first-class suspension provide excellent shock absorption and stability on the road. Pneumatic tires with inner tubes have excellent cushioning capabilities, but they are prone to punctures and often a nightmare to change. Apollo solves this problem with split rim design, and their warranty provides free inner tubes for a period of 2 years.
Brakes and Safety
The Phantom comes in two brake configurations: mechanical disc brakes and hydraulic brakes. Both versions utilize 160mm discs, which are 20mm larger than the industry standard. The additional 20mm in disc size delivers best-in-class cooling and handle response, while improving braking performance. This scooter also features re-generative braking, recharging the battery while you brake.
Folding and Portability
Folding mechanism of the Apollo is exactly how a scooter folding mechanism should be – simple, reliable, and intuitive. Most of high-performance scooters have the stem collar design, but Phantom features a design similar to Inokim OXO with a lever that secures the stem in the upright position. This design is simple to use, safe, giving away no wobble, no creaking, and no shaking. The folding lock doubles as a bag hook, so you can hang your cargo instead if carrying a backpack. I’m not sure whether it is the best idea, but it can come in handy at times.
The weight limit is 300lbs, which means that it is fit for heavier riders. The handlebar sits 41” above the deck, which means that even the taller riders (up to 6 and a half feet) will be able to ride comfortably.

Even though we put them under “additional” features, we believe that proper lights and a functional dashboard should be a standard feature on any scooter, not just high performance ones. Apollo took a giant step, especially with the cockpit of the Phantom, creating a scooter that is unlike anything else we have ever seen so far.
One of the most important safety features on electric scooters, especially for those that are capable for riding on the streets, is proper lighting. Yet, this is probably the most overlooked part by manufacturers, and many high performance scooters are pretty poorly lit.
This is not the case with Phantom, featuring very bright 1000 lumen headlight, two front deck lights that can be seen from the side, two turn signals on the back of the deck, and a red brake light on the footrest. This lighting setup ensures that you will be seen from all angles, and be able to see the road in front of you at night time.
Display and Cockpit
So far the QS-S4 and EYE3 units have been a standard when it comes to throttle controls and display, but Apollo Phantom brings something completely different to the scene. All-new proprietary LCD HEX display is a thing of beauty, and absolutely packed with features. The display is large, very conveniently placed, and it beats reading from a small sized screen or having to use your phone as a dashboard by a mile.
It is equipped with a speedometer, riding mode selector, 20 adjustable settings to personalize your riding experience, ant the best of all – the range estimator. Rather that showing you bars on your battery and make you guess and calculate, you are able to actually see the exact amount of miles you can go until you have to recharge.
Who is this scooter for?
Apollo Phantom is not the fastest, or the longest range electric scooter. It is not a super portable folding scooter, or the mean off-road machine. But if you want a scooter that has a bit of everything and can adapt to any situation, this one might be a good choice. Currently it is only available for pre-order, so there is a lack of real-life riding experiences, but the time will tell whether the Phantom is a true game-changer that will start a revolution of rider-focused electric scooter production. We like to believe it is.
